The temple of Artemis in Nas, dates back to the 6th century BC and it is said that it was built by the Ikarians in honor of the mother goddess Artemis who happened to be the patroness of seafarers as well as the protector of hunters and wild animals. Historians are unanimous in believing that Nas was probably the first ever settlement of Ikaria and from the ancient times it provided safe anchorage to the shipping vessels that sailed to Asia Minor.

The following characteristics can be attributed to abductions. The victim is taken from its home when it is most vulnerable, and is put in a dark room and forced to reshape its identity.
The captor hides as most civilised societies, condemn such atrocities and punish abductions with a life in prison. There have been instances however, where the taker not only remains unpunished, but benefits publicly from the abduction. In such cases, the victims’ environment normally stinks of fire and dust.
The takers deceitfully camouflage their force, by charming the victim with sweet and pleasant scents. The victim is then transferred to luxurious rooms where their identity is cherished and exposed for the whole world to see. And the world will indeed come to see this act of violence but will not get outraged, as the captor’s behaviour confuses them. You see, in such cases the abductors pose proudly as saviours of the victims and invite their parents over for tea.

The Sweet Abduction

This is a 750 m² mural that took nearly 3 months to be completed.

I used acrylic paint and rollers. It is placed in Ikaria island, Greece and includes historic elements of the place.

This nft is minted in order to give people around the world the experience of walking next to the wall.

A walk by the wall

Ikaria island is well known for the festivals and the wine. The locals share a common taste for good wine, warm company and the rhythm of the traditional sounds.

The traditional dance of Ikaria in the rhythm of Ikariotikos. A dance that would let everyone lead. As you can see the elder passes his place to the next man while the younger one waits patiently his turn. The mutual respect that the people of Ikaria share, is something that kept the island united even in the hardest times of history.

Icaria, also spelled Ikaria, is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, 10 nautical miles southwest of Samos. According to tradition, it derives its name from Icarus, the son of Daedalus in Greek mythology, who was believed to have fallen into the sea nearby.

Evdilos is the village that the wall is located. The main port of Ikaria and the place that i took my nickname from. In other words a small paradise.

The people that provide the joy to the festivals. With good music and some wine, the people of Ikaria can turn any single day into an experience.

The original Ikariotikos is in reality four different rhythms that combined, or not, instrument the traditional Ikarian dance. Now days the violin is the basic instrument that leads the rhythm, the dance, and the whole festival.

Tsampouna is a traditional instrument created by the locals to company the rest of the instruments playing the traditional theme song of Ikaria (Ikariotikos) as well as other songs.

The wings that Daedalus offered his son in order to escape from Crete. Daedalus warned his son not to fly close to the sun but Icarus ignored his father's instructions.

Monastery Saint Theoktisti & Chapel Theoskepasti is located on the northern side of Ikaria, in the Municipal District of Evdilos, and near the village of Pigi. The small church has been built between two rocks and is dedicated to Osia Theoktisti from Lesvos. She is associated with the islands of Paros and Ikaria, although not much information is known about her life.

The Castle of Koskina is a 10th century A.D. Byzantine castle fortress located on a mountain peak overlooking the village of Kosikia in the center of Ikaria.

Dionysus is the god of the grape harvest, winemaking, fertility, orchards and fruit, vegetation, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy and festivity. If you ever visit Ikaria, you will understand why the locals used to worship him.

In Greek mythology, Icarus was the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, the creator of the Labyrinth. Icarus and Daedalus attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that Daedalus constructed from feathers and wax. Daedalus warns Icarus first of complacency and then of hubris, instructing him to fly neither too low nor too high, lest the sea's dampness clog his wings or the sun's heat melt them. Icarus ignores Daedalus’s instructions not to fly too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt. He tumbles out of the sky, falls into the sea, and drowns.
