I felt it for the first time when I was five years old.
It was a hot day, the sky stretching far and blue,
The trees swaying with their leaves in perfect symmetry.
I looked at my mother and knew something bad would happen.
So I clung to her leg, clutching her dress as if it could save me.
She tried to pry me off but my grip tightened as she spoke softly in my ear, “Don’t worry honey don’t worry nothing will happen to you today.
