From ancient greec katá + grámma. Writing from the top down. Also degenerative writing. Ink on paper, pix on screen. Physical mark, digital gesture. The nine paper Catagrams are an attempt to find the adequate gesture of a mark that could or would be a scripture, a writing, a calligraphy, for a contemplative deciphering. The animated Catagrams are the continuation of the gesture, where the blinking glyph creates a new hallucinated and magnetic reading of each work. Nine drawings (each 30 x 19,5 cm) made in 2020. All ink on french paper Rives Tradition 250g. The digital collection includes twelve items (1920px 72dpi) : nine blinking catagrams (50 ed.), one animated positive set (15 ed.), one animated negative set (15 ed.) and one animated positive/negative set (5 ed.). --- https://www.antoniowerli.net/category/catagrammes/
